Fire ban remains in effect

May 27, 2011 | 4:18 PM

The fire ban in the northern section on of the province will remain in effect going into the weekend.

The ban, enacted by the province, includes much of the forested area between Prince Albert and the Churchill River, north of La Ronge.

The ban prohibits all open fires and suspends all previously issued fire permits in the provincial forest. Briquette and natural gas for cooking are allowed.

As well, many municipalities are following suit. The City of Prince Albert and the Town of La Ronge both have similar bans in effect.
