RCMP and city police are looking for two men that escaped from Riverbend Institution, Wednesday night.

Cory Hourd, 37, and Chris Gibson, 31, were last seen around 8 p.m. Wednesday. When a count of the inmates was done around 10 p.m, the two men could not be located.

RCMP said they believe the pair may be headed to Regina because they have contacts in that city.

Both men should be considered violent and should not be approached if observed, RCMP said.

Gibson is serving a three-year sentence for a variety of offenses that include theft, possessing counterfeit money, and possession of a firearm.

He is described as being six foot one, 268 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He has Chinese symbols and a rose tattooed on his left forearm.

Hourd is serving a two year sentence for aggravated assault.

He is described as being five feet 11, 161 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has a barbed wire tattoo on his right upper arm.

Anyone with information on their whereabouts is asked to contact their police agency.

Riverbend Institution is a minimum-security institution that accommodates 126 inmates. This is the first escape from this facility, this fiscal year and there were two escapes last year.

According to the Correctional Service Canada, minimum security offenders are those who are rated as low escape risks, low risk to the public in the event of an escape and display progress in dealing with identified problem areas through correctional plan participation.

The Correctional Service Canada will be conducting a complete investigation surrounding circumstances of this escape.
