Man given suspended sentence for confinement

Rodney Ritchie has been given a one year suspended sentence for unlawful confinement.
In February 2011, he got into an argument with his common-law partner of six years. When she tried to call the police, he ripped the phone cord out of the wall and wrestled her to the ground to get her cell phone.
He then blocked the door and wouldn't let her leave, indicating he was going to use nylons to tie her up for two days.
She eventually was able to escape the Olive Diefenbaker Drive residence.
