Rebecca Kiessling Stirred P.A. Audience

A visit by Rebecca Kiessling, a motivational speaker from Detroit, stirred a crowd of over 120 gathered in the Quality Inn on May 7th, 2011.

The Fundraising/Awareness Banquet was organized jointly by the Prince Albert Right to Life Association and Jubilation Program, two Pro-Life organizations in the city, as part of Celebrate Life Week which was officially proclaimed from May 7th – 14th, 2011.

Rebecca Kiessling, a lawyer with a busy family practice in Detroit, Michigan told the audience that she was adopted nearly from birth. At 18, she learned that she was conceived out of a brutal rape at knife-point by a serial rapist. She said that like most people she would never have considered that abortion applied to her life, but once she received this information, all of a sudden she realized that, not only did it apply to her life, but it had to do with her very existence.

Following she told her personal story in an emotionally gripping account to those present at the Banquet. Everyone was stirred and more than ever convinced that abortion under any circumstances is simply unacceptable and that we, as a society, should encourage the development of laws and the establishment and delivery of services and programs to prevent abortions and to support women in any way we can – something both PARLA and Jubilation Program in Prince Albert have done over the last three decades.

During the evening, Val Hettrick, Past President of PARLA, highlighted the educational and political services offered. Dr. John Fryters, in turn, explained the services Jubilation Program currently offers in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan and internationally in Peru, South Sudan and Uganda.

Music at the banquet was provided by an exciting Praise and Worship Team called New Tribe, under the leadership of Pastor Teresa Tabuchi from the Canadian Revival Centre in Prince Albert.

Celebrate Life Week continues in Prince Albert with an official flag raising in front of City Hall on May 9th, 2011 at 11:45 am in presence of officials from City Council, various churches, the Knights of Columbus, and the general public. Also, throughout the week various churches and Christian ministries will organize individual prayer meetings and sermons highlighting the sanctity of life from conception to natural death.
