Prince Albert Votes – Hoback re-elected

Randy Hoback has been re-elected at the MP for Prince Albert.

He said he is looking forward to get going.

“Our game plan is to get back to work here right away,” he said.

“Stability for the Canadian people, for the Canadian economy to make sure that we had a strong stable government moving forward so that we could rid through the rest of this recession and move forward.”

Hoback said he has big plans for the future in Prince Albert.

“When you look at the priorities for Prince Albert they’ve been much the same whether it looks at social housing, whether getting rid of the long gun registry is something that the constituents have wanted, changes to the Canadian Wheat Board is some the constituents have wanted to see happen and we have a majority now to do some of those things.”
 

9:15 p.m.: Hoback’s election night headquarters

There's been shrieks of excitement, handshakes all around, and people congratulating Randy Hoback.

Everyone at the Travelodge ballroom is in a good mood as it's been announced that Hoback has taken the riding.

Hoback said he's still nervous, though, despite what it said on TV. Everyone is still watching the TV intently.
 

9:00 p.m. Mushinski campaign headquarters

Things are quieting down at Valerie Mushinski’s office.

People seem to be taking a place to watch the results come in and sticking there. Everyone is still pretty upbeat and it seems no matter what happens Mushinski will be happy with the strength of the NDP. When the results came in that NDP are the official opposition a cheer came across the room.
There is just as much attention on Prince Albert’s riding as the rest of the province, watching the times change.

Tensions are still high as people come and go, but you can frequently hear people saying today will go down in history.
 

8:50 p.m. Prince Albert Riding Results

Randy Hoback has been re-elected as the MP for Prince Albert with about 60 per cent of the vote. Current results: Conservative 8,208; NDP 4,512; Liberal 460; Green, 290; Canadian Action Party 58
 

8:45 p.m. Mushinski campaign headquarters

It’s an upbeat room at Valerie Mushinksi’s office.
She says she’s feeling good and it’s obvious as she walks around and makes jokes with the people around her.

Mushinski is hugging people as they show up and the room is getting full and loud. People have moved from the TV to around computers trying to get a sense of what’s going on.

She says now that they are official opposition all they can do is go up.You can feel the excitement and nerves in the room as people try and find out what Canada will look like.
 

8:35 p.m. Prince Albert Riding Results

With 35 of 168 polls counted: Conservative 3071, NDP 1845, Liberal 189, Green 105, Canadian Action Party 15

8:30 p.m.: Hoback’s election night headquarters

Randy Hoback has arrived at the ballroom in the Travelodge hotel in Prince Albert.

He and other members are gathered around the television, watching the election coverage. Hoback said he's feeling nervous, but “quietly confident.”

People continue to arrive at the Travelodge and all are hoping to celebrate a victory later tonight.
 

7:45 p.m.: Randy Hoback's Office

paNOW Reporter Ryan Pilon is at the Travelodge in Prince Albert, where Conservative Party incumbent Randy Hoback is hoping to celebrate a victory later tonight.

Pilon Reports there are a few members in the ballroom right now, but most aren’t expected to arrive until 8:30 p.m. Hoback isn't expected until 9 p.m.

7:35 p.m.: Valerie Mushinski's Campaign Headquarters

As election night coverage continues, paNOW reporter Kellah Lavoie is at NDP Candidate Valerie Mushinski’s office.

She reports there is not too much hustle and bustle, but everyone has their jobs and are getting ready for the night.

They are going over voter lists at this point and getting ready for the polls to close.

Lavoie reports Mushinsky said “pretty soon the excitement will start” as she bops around her headquarters.
