10 p.m. Rob Clarke's election headquarters

In Meadow Lake supporters of Rob Clarke are celebrating the results of the now declared re-elected MP in Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River.

There was a round of cheering when Block leader Gilles Duceppe got defeated, when it seemed like Liberal Leader, Michael Ignatieff was defeated and when Rob Clarke was declared.

Supporters stood up, hugged each other and were reported to be very happy with the results.

There’s now a somber atmosphere in the hall, since Joseph slipped from a neck-and-neck race with incumbent Rob Clarke.

For much of the night hopes were very high since at some points Joseph was actually in the lead.
Then the mood really died down as that lead was shattered in as the last few poll results came in.

People are still hanging around however because they’re waiting for Lawrence to show up and give a few thanks.

9:00 p.m. – Rob Clarke's election headquarters

paNOW reporter Chris Mangatal is at the Bear's Den in Meadow Lake with Conservative candidate Rob Clark in the Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River riding.

Mangatal described the scene as being “not too busy” and the mood “relaxed.”

He said Clarke has just arrived and is walking around with a canoe oar – a conservative symbol.

Clarke is getting community members to sign the oar and is expected to leave it at the Bear’s Den to show just how much support there is in the community.

The volume in the room is reported to be getting louder as Mangatal reports everyone seems to be laughing, joking and maintaining a happy atmosphere.

7: 55 p.m. Lawrence Joseph’s election night headquarters

paNOW reporter Andrew de Souza is in La Ronge with NDP Candidate Lawrence Joseph. He describes the scene right now is low key.

At the moment it’s mostly reporters waiting in the Legion Hall where Joseph and supporters are set to wait out the results.

It might be slow in the hall now but it’s expected to heat up because it’ll be an important race.
Joseph, who’s a former FSIN chief has been drumming up serious support and there’s speculation that this could be one of the ridings where the NDP could take a surprise victory.

During the last election incumbent and former RCMP officer Rob Clarke took home almost 50 per cent of the vote and at that time, the NDP was trailing in third.

In the Desnethé-Missinippi-Churchill River the incumbent Conservative Rob Clarke is being challenged by Liberal, Gabe Lafond, Green Party member, George Morin and NDP candidate Lawrence Joseph.
