Tuition increase at SIAST

May 2, 2011 | 3:46 PM

Tuition is on the rise at SIAST.

The school announced they will be upping tuition by just over three per cent.

The hike will come into effect on July 1.

Officials said it is to combat rising price of services the post-secondary institute provides.

“The increase is due to inflationary pressures and the higher cost of providing services,” David Walls, SIAST senior vice president of academics, said in a press release.

On average, a 30-week program will cost $3,650. The number of weeks differs between programs, but most courses are one to two years.

Tuition is about 11 per cent of the post-secondary school's revenue. This year the revenue forecast is more than $210 million.

Across the province there are more than 15,000 students registered at SIAST. They have facilities in Moose Jaw, Prince Albert, Regina and Saskatoon.
