Saskatchewan teachers to walk off the job Thursday

May 2, 2011 | 5:56 PM

Saskatchewan teachers will walk off the job for one day on Thursday.

In a news release today, the Saskatchewan Teachers Federation confirmed all members will be withdrawing full professional and voluntary services on Thursday in order to take part in a one-day study day and rally.  The teachers will be back on the job Friday.

The rally will be held on the front steps of the Legislature in Regina.

Contract talks with the provincial school boards association have been at a stand still. The teachers have been without a contract since August 2010. Teachers are seeking a 12 percent wage increase in one year.
