One day left until tax deadline

While there is still a day to get it done, everything needs to be done and filed for income tax by midnight tomorrow.

“You have to come to grips with the fact that you do have to file,” said Cleo Hamel with H and R Block Canada.

She said if you don't file on time and you owe money, you will pay a penalty fee that grows with interest.

If you're dealing with flooding and haven't been able to file — there is some good news.

“They are allowing you to apply for tax payer relief against any interest charges or penalties you might face by not filing on time,” she said.

You still need to put in a claim on time, but if approved you won't be penalized for interest you haven't had time to pay.

To do that, you have to fill out an RC4288 form and provide proof of flooding.
