2014 Saskatchewan Winter Games Workshop – Thursday April 28
Those interested in participating in the organization of the games encouraged to attend.

The City of Prince Albert is in the process of making an application to host the 2014
Saskatchewan Winter Games. As part of that process, the Saskatchewan Games Consultant will
be hosting a workshop in Prince Albert on Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 7:00p.m. at the Alfred
Jenkins Fieldhouse.

The workshop will be led by Lorne Lasuita, the Provincial Games Consultant, who will review bid requirements and expectations of the successful community.

“We are in the early stages of the application procedure and we are looking for people who might
be interested in organizing the games to come out to the meeting,” said Jody Boulet, Recreation
Manager for the City of Prince Albert.

“This will be the first opportunity for community members to come out and learn more about the games. If we are successful in our application we will require approximately a dozen volunteers to take on some of the higher level responsibilities associated with organizing an event of this nature.

These positions will form the basis of the Host Committee and the success of our bid application hinges a lot on our ability to fill these key roles.”

The following is a list of Host Committee positions:
– Chair
– Vice – Chair
– Administration & Finance
– Athlete Services
– Ceremonies, Cultural Events & Protocol
– Information Technology
– Logistics
– Marketing & Promotion
– Sports
– Venues
– Volunteers

A Games Manager, Games Assistant & Administrative Assistant will be hired by the Host
Committee if the bid is successful.

These positions will work directly with the Host Committee and the City Of Prince Albert through the delivery and operation of the games.

The Saskatchewan Winter Games has approximately 2,000 participants and requires around 1,500
volunteers to operate and deliver the Games. “We will be in touch with a number of volunteers to
solicit interest, but we want to be sure to open up the opportunity to the community as a whole to
participate in this significant event,” said Boulet.

“If anyone has an interest in filling one of these key roles, we strongly encourage them to take the opportunity to attend the workshop and find out what will be involved. This represents the first step in the recruitment process.”

If you can attend but have questions in advance of the workshop, or if you are interested but
cannot attend, please contact Jody Boulet, Recreation Manager at 953-4800.

People that are interested in attending are also asked to RSVP to Jody by Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 5 p.m. The deadline for bid applications to host the 2014 Saskatchewan Winter Games is July 4, 2011.
