The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation has voted 95 per cent in favour of employing sanctions.

There was an announcement made today and comes after a mid-April vote.

“The goal of the Teachers’ Bargaining Committee is to return to the bargaining table to negotiate an agreement that affirms the worth of teachers, not to take sanctions,” said Gwen Dueck, chief spokesperson for the Teachers’ Bargaining Committee, in a press release.

“We urge the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee to bring increased resources to the table to reflect the professionalism of teachers.”

The STF is encouraging the government of change their position on contact negotiations.

If the government doesn’t, the teachers’ federation is threatening sanctions that could range from withdrawal of voluntary services to a strike.

They have committed to giving 48-hours notice before any service is withdrawn.

Saskatchewan teachers have been in negotiations for the past 11 months and have not had a contract since the end of August.
