Community Networking Coalition Progesses – Needs Input
The Prince Albert Community Literacy Plan is progressing very well. We have sponsored certification training in WHMIS, First Aid/CPR, Food Safe and Computer 1, 2 & 3. All classes have been full – we have provided transportation, childcare, etc for those who needed it in order to participate. We offered an “Introducaiton to Family Literacy” class and a two day facilitator training class for Alphabet Soup. These classes were also full and very successful.
We are sponsoring a poster competition for students in May/June with the topic of “My Body – My Mind” making the connection between health and literacy. We are also developing (8 components) on work place skills that will be delivered to community members in June.
Another area that we want to develop is a contact list for families and community members who may not have access to information about things that they could attend with their families (free or low cost) as well as basic information about topics of interest/educational. I receive so much good information through the CNC that could be directed to families and community members for their information and knowledge.
This is my request:
Please talk to your clients/volunteers/community members and ask them if they want to be on an e-mail contact list to receive information about family events (free or low cost) and other information that would be of general interest to them.
