“Leggo of my Eggum!!!”
The Portage Terriers found out what many SJHL teams found out over the course of the winter—that is don’t give Travis Eggum room to shoot.
The La Ronge forward, who scored 58 times in the regular season, scored four times as the Ice Wolves evened the ANAVET Cup final at two games apiece with a convincing 6-1 win over the Manitoba champs.
Stephane Pattyn gave the Terriers an early 1-0 lead, but Eggum’s first of the night late in the first sent the two teams to the dressing room tied at 1. After that, it was all La Ronge as they dominated the Terriers in every facet of the game including specialty teams. The Ice Wolves went 4-for-12 on the power play while killing off all 7 Terrier advantages.
Other La Ronge markers came from Dayton Fossum and Marc Andre Carre. Doug Lindensmith and Logan Herauf had three assists each. For Lindensmith, he has seven assists in two games since returning to the La Ronge lineup from injury that cost him much of the SJHL final.
