Former Saskatchewan MLA Serge LeClerc loses battle with cancer

A controversial former Saskatchewan MLA Serge LeCler has lost his battle with cancer.

LeClerc passed away Saturday morning

Premier Brad Wall says LeClerc always spoke his mind, whether people wanted to hear it or not and the voice will be missed.

“Serge LeClerc's life is truly a story of redemption,” Wall said in a statement released to the media Saturday afternoon. “Serge overcame a very troubled past and went on to touch the lives of thousands of young people with his powerful message about the dangers of drug use.”

LeClerc was elected as an MLA for Saskatoon Northwest in the 2007 provincial election.
