First Nations people fleeing the water in the Qu'Appelle Valley are being told by Ottawa there won't be any assistance for now.
FSIN Chief Guy Lonechild, said they're being told there won't be any help until the federal election is over.
“The regional director general isn’t able to flow any financial resources, that the First Nations are entirely relying on the provincial government. I know Prime Minister Harper’s in Saskatoon – they need to hear that beyond the election that these are everyday lives of elders who refuse to leave their homes in the valley.”
Lonechild said evacuations are now being carried out in Cowesses, Muscowpetung and Sakimay. He said other First Nations in the valley also face threats.
