Tax increase in Melfort

Apr 15, 2011 | 8:03 AM

Taxes are going up in Melfort but not as much as first thought.

City Council has wrapped up its budget deliberations.

The average tax increase is 1.6 per cent with1.5 per cent on residential taxes and and two per cent for commercial properties.

It was earlier thought that the increase would be closer to 2.8 per cent, but council was able to balance the budget through increasing the vacant land tax.
