Police to host open house

The Prince Albert Police Service will be hosting an open house on Apr. 12, and are inviting the public to attend.

It will take place at the log cabin located on the Prince Albert Exhibition Grounds.

“We’re going to be available to answer any questions you might have, we’ll have our community services officer there as well. We’ll have public information and pamphlets there, and displays,” said Sgt. Kelly McLean.

“We just want to make sure that the public is aware we’re going to be there, and they’re all welcome to attend.”

McLean said members of the various sections of the police service will be there, such as the canine unit, SWAT, and patrol members.

“Just kind of a broad stroke of the various aspects of our police service that are going to be there, coming and going throughout the day,” said McLean.

Also attending will be the Victim Services Unit, which will be graduating its most recent class of victim services volunteers on Apr. 11.

From Apr. 10 to 16, it is Victims of Crime Awareness Week in Saskatchewan, and a child identification clinic will be running at the open house.

“Fingerprints are taken, a photograph is taken of that child, and then there’s a permanent record of that information that is kept with the parent on the off-chance that child ever goes missing, or God forbid, is abducted,” said McLean.

“That parent has an up-to-date information package that’s available to pass along to law enforcement.”

The open house will run from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
