Fire at local business

The Prince Albert Fire Department responded to a fire at the Cornerstone Shopping District this morning.

It happened at the Rona Home Centre before the store was open at about 8:15 a.m.

According to the fire department the blaze started in the lunchroom of the home center. It was started by a vending machine.

Crews were called when smoke was seen billowing out of the backside of the building.

Fire officials say the indoor sprinkler system was a big help in containing the fire and aided crews in controlling the incident quickly.

Clean up of water continues this morning and officials said of it goes well Rona will be opening their operations at about 1 p.m.

Management at the site of the fire declined comment at this point. He said he will release a statement when he knows more.

Police and ambulance were also on scene.
