RCMP cruiser involved in crash

Apr 8, 2011 | 6:55 AM

An RCMP cruiser narrowly avoided a head-on collision Thursday. Mounties tell News Talk Radio the accident happened in a foggy area as the officer was enroute to a two-vehicle collision near Kelliher.

The cruiser had lights and siren activated as it tried to pass a CN Rail work truck just north of Ituna on Highway 15- when the officer observed an oncoming vehicle. In the attempt to avoid a head-on collision, the police vehicle smashed into the CN vehicle, sending the truck into the ditch.

There were no injuries, and Melville and Ituna RCMP and a Yorkton RCMP collision re-constructionist were called to the scene to investigate.
