 Adult Literacy Coordinator (full time, 37.5 hours/week)

Are you an outstanding project and events coordinator? Do you enjoy facilitating workshops and community development work? Are you sensitive to inequities and passionate about making positive social change? Do you want to work with a fun, professional team to build a literacy and learning culture in Saskatchewan?

The Saskatchewan Literacy Network invites you to apply for the position of Adult Literacy Coordinator. This position focuses on three primary areas:

* Community & literacy field development: Organize an annual conference; coordinate, facilitate and promote community workshops, plain language and proposal writing training; and communicate information about the SLN to stakeholders and the public.
* Resource development: Monitor and respond to requests for adult learning and literacy information; review and update training packages; other research as required.
* Learner support: Coordinate a provincial adult learners’ group, including organizing meetings; assembling a learner newsletter; and coordinate Regional Learner Support
Groups.

This position is full time (37.5 hours per week) for a term ending August 31, 2012, with the possibility of extension.

Qualifications:

* Education: Post-secondary education specializing in adult education, or equivalent training and experience.
* Experience: Understanding of the principles and theory of adult learning and community development; familiarity with literacy issues and the literacy field in Saskatchewan and Canada; previous experience in event coordination, facilitation, program planning and proposal writing.
* Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including demonstrated knowledge of plain language principles; ability to work both independently and collaboratively; ability to take initiative in the performance of tasks and in the handling of non-routine matters; demonstrated cultural and social sensitivity; good working
knowledge of word processing and internet software applications.
* This position involves some travel. A valid driver’s license and criminal record check are required. A detailed job description is available upon request.

Salary: Approximately $3940.00/month to start, plus benefits

■ Communications Coordinator (30 hours/week)

The Saskatchewan Literacy Network invites you to apply for the position of Communications Coordinator. The ideal candidate for this position will:

* Have experience and confidence developing and implementing a strategic communications plan, including a seamless unified vision for organizational communications and branding
* Create and fine tune messages for maximum impact, demonstrated through examples or a portfolio (writing, design and electronic samples welcome) Take charge of the design, development and layout of all Network communications materials and publications, including an electronic newsletter, website and print resources
* Have impeccable writing and editing skills, acting as the final ‘set of eyes’ on all written materials Creatively attract and engage the public and media (PSAs, press releases, social media)
* Be a curious lifelong learner and an ambassador for literacy and the Saskatchewan Literacy Network Have fun while getting results and developing relationships!

* Ability to occasionally travel throughout Saskatchewan
