SaskTel is investing quite a bit of money into upgrades for 2011.

$199 million will be invested in its Saskatchewan network and approximatel $670 million will go towards a seven-year Next Generation Broadband Access Program.

The program is designed to deploy Fiber to the Premises and upgrade the broadband network in the nine largest urban centres in the province, including Saskatoon, Regina, and Moose Jaw.

$52 million will be invested continuing construction of its 4G wireless network.

President and CEO Ron Styles says more and more people are looking for simpler ways to go about their lives.

“It's all about convenience, lifestyle, speed, and levels of content,” said Styles. “All of these things are going to be enhanced over the coming months.”

Since the beginning of 2008, SaskTel has invested approximately $800 million into its network.
