CN train derails in central Regina

Apr 5, 2011 | 7:01 AM

Another train was the centre of traffic woes in rush hour in Regina late Monday afternoon — but for a different reason.

“We had one empty hopper car come off, it derailed upright on a CN train in CP's yard,” said Warren Chandler, a spokesperson for Canadian National Railway.

It happened around 5:30 p.m., blocking Dewdney Avenue, McIntyre Street and 8th Avenue crossings.

No one was hurt. The train was moved and traffic was flowing within an hour. The Regina Police Service did assist with redirecting traffic until the crossings could be re-opened.
