Transportation Safety Board continues to investigate cause of Saskatoon plane crash

The wreckage of a twin engine plane sits in a hanger at Saskatoon's airport after investigators spent all Saturday surveying the scene of a plane crash on Waneskewin Road in Saskatoon's north end Friday night.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada's regional manager, Peter Hildebrand, said for now, investigators are sticking with their usual routine.

“We're going to examine all the parts of it (the plane) to try and make measurements as to, for example, the position of flight controls like the flaps, landing gear, propellers,” said Hildebrand.

He said a conclusion is not expected for several weeks at the earliest.

Names are confirmed of the pilot and co-pilot who were involved in the crash landing.

The Saskatoon Health Region tells said the pilot, 57-year-old Brock Gorrell, was released from hospital sometime on Saturday. His co-pilot, 42-year-old Cameron Sutcliffe, has also been released, although the health region cannot confirm when.
