A Constant Reminder

Apr 1, 2011 | 12:25 PM

Many kids, at some point, will dream about rocking on stage to their favorite tunes, but for three brothers it’s not just a fantasy.

The oldest, Seth Constant, is 16 and the youngest band-mate, Rene Constant, is just 10 years old.

The lead singer is 14-year-old Cole Constant. They call themselves Constant Reminder.

The band from James Smith Cree Nation, southeast of Prince Albert, has only been officially together for a year, but they’ve already played for some major crowds, including 2,000 people at Batoche, this past summer.

The band is now releasing their first CD, Constant Reminder Volume II. Don’t be fooled by the name because this is their first album.

“It’s Volume II because my dad and we had lots of songs written before Constant Reminder wrote our songs on the CD,” Cole said.

“We just started out as just trying to fool around, but then my other brother Seth came along two months after and started picking up the guitar.”

The youngest brother, Rene, picked up the drums a short time later.

Constant Reminder is known for their performances of cover songs, but they wrote all 10 tracks on their new album.

“Were all brothers and we work on them together as one.”

Cole said they write “just basically about feelings and how (they’re) feeling that day.”

When asked where he would like to see the future of the band go, Cole said “where ever the music takes us.”

Constant Reminder is having their CD Release at Best Western Marquis Inn today from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

They will also be performing songs from their new album.
