Liberal candidate enters the race

Mar 30, 2011 | 7:17 AM

A liberal candidate has thrown his hat in the ring to be Prince Albert’s next MP.

Ron Wassill has been involved with the liberal party since he was “knee high to a grass hopper.”

“We have been involved with the liberal part for many years … and I have run in provincial elections on several occasions,” he said.

The three-term Zenon Park Mayor said he can’t say too much yet, but is gearing up for a good race.

“We want to make sure our region benefits as much as any other region in our country,” Wassill said.

“We’re hoping to bring back democracy to parliament for one thing and get away from this contempt business and get away from just one person being in charge of things.”

The liberal government in Ottawa was in power for many years and money was saved, he said, now that money is all gone.

We “need to stop spending like a drunken sailor,” Wassill said.

He began campaigning on Monday and is in the process of setting up an office in Prince Albert.

He said he has the support of his family as he makes this run.
