Stephen Harper to stop in Saskatchewan
Two federal party leaders are making stops in Saskatchewan just days after the election was announced, and one University of Saskatchewan political studies professor says it's definitely a smart move.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper will be in Regina at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, speaking at the Performance Marine store on Pasqua Street. It's one day after NDP Leader Jack Layton paid a visit to the Queen City. U of S professor Joe Garcia made some predictions last week when it came to who would bring their campaign to Saskatchewan.
“I think that all leaders are going to have to make at least an airport stop in Saskatchewan. If they were to miss it completely, they would be heavily criticized, ” Garcia said.
But he doubts Harper will spend much time in the province, adding the Prime Minister already has a political stronghold in the province. However, Garcia predicts Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff will make what he calls a “significant stop.”
