The success of the Give a little life day radio-a-thon was wheeled and pulled into Victoria Hospital.

The new and upgraded medical equipment for the operating room have started to arrive.

“I cannot begin to tell you how excited our operating room teams are about having this new equipment here,” said Dr. Randy Friesen, one of the surgeons, who will make use of the new equipment.

“This is state-of-the-art medical equipment and it is going to make a huge difference.”

Laparoscopic surgery instruments, monitors, new brighter LED operating room lights, hysteroscope, dermatome and tourniquet, have been purchased with the funds raised through the event.

The $400,000 required to purchase this equipment was raised during the 12-hour event Dec. 3.

“Individuals, groups, organizations, unions and businesses all pitched to make this possible,” said Rob Dalziel, executive director with Victoria Hospital Foundation

“This is yet another strong indication the people of Prince Albert and throughout the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region view health care as a priority issue.”

Upgrades to the operating rooms are expected to be completed over the next several weeks.
