Safe Parks for Summer Workshop

Mar 21, 2011 | 3:32 PM

In an effort to help parks and recreation deal with safety and liability concerns associated with summer, the Safe Parks for Summer workshop was developed.

This workshop has been extremely popular when presented from Honolulu to Newfoundland through such groups as the Canadian Parks and Recreation Association, PRO, NRPA and the Public Risk Management Association.

We are very pleased to advise that on Tuesday, April 19 the Ministry of Tourism, Parks, Culture and Sport is hosting this workshop at their offices at 102 – 112 Research Avenue, in Saskatoon.

This workshop will cover many areas of summer risks including:

* Trails
* Playing fields, playgrounds
* Pools, beaches and waterfront safety
* Campgrounds
* Skate parks
* Use of Signs
* Summer programs….and more

All participants at these sessions will experience a unique training experience and receive a copy of the Safe Parks for Summer manual.

The workshop will be presented by Doug Wyseman who has worked in the field of risk management since 1973. As well as having experience as risk manager for a large Canadian municipality, Doug has assisted municipalities from Honolulu to Halifax in the development of effective risk management programs and provides training on a wide variety of public sector risk concerns with groups such as CPRA (where he served on the Board of Directors), NRPA, Trans Canada Trail, American Trails, and the Public Risk Management Association.

Since these sessions often fill quickly, we suggest that those wishing to attend FAX their registrations to 519-537-8553 or email to dwyseman@rogers.com
