Community Living’s Best Buddies Program

Mar 20, 2011 | 8:48 PM

The Best Buddies program fosters friendships between a young adult (18-40 years of age) in Saskatoon with a University of Saskatchewan student who has similar interests. Each person pledges to spend time with his or her buddy twice a month and telephone, e-mail, text message or write a note once a week. There are also six group activities and events organized by the program coordinators for all of the volunteers to attend. These are great opportunities for everyone to meet each other and build on their social networks.

Best Buddies is a national charitable organization dedicated to enhancing our communities through one-to-one friendships between individuals with intellectual disabilities and students. If you are interested in starting up a Best Buddies chapter in your Saskatchewan community, please contact the youth coordinator at the SACL. We would be happy to assist in connecting you to the national office, and to help with finding volunteers and starting the chapter in any town or city that shows interest.

For information on this exciting program, or to sign up, please phone Rachelle at (306) 955-3344 or e-mail rachelle.hosak@sacl.org. We are looking forward to hearing from you! Check us out on Facebook!
