Derek Edwards-My Blunderful Life Tour

March 21, 8 p.m.

Derek Edwards’ hilarious ruminations on his Blunderful Life is a wildly entertaining comedic expose by “a virtuoso at the peak of performance”. With a wit and will forged in Northern Canada, he guides us through the pivotal life moments we’re all confronted by in our 20s, 30s, 40s and on. Snapshots of the past and the world around us, skewed and imbued with a small town charm and tempered with an inimitable quirky perspective. Is it really wrong, he wonders, to extend a misspent youth that extra 30 years? My Blunderful Life! – common sense and an inspired sense of the ridiculous.

Connie Kaldor is a multi-award winning singer/songwriter. In 1984 she received a Juno nomination for Most Promising Female Vocalist and a Juno nomination in 2000 in the Folk Roots category. She won two Junos for best children’s album in 1989 along with her sister in law Carmen Campagne and again in 2004 with her solo album a ‘Poodle in Paris’. She was also recognized for her contribution to Canadian culture in 2007 when she received the Order of Canada.
Connie Kaldor flourished on the folk music scene for over two decades as a headliner at folk festivals where she performed longside such talents as Stan Rogers, Ferron, Valdy, Roy Forbes and Stringband. Despite those early roots in folk festivals her repertoire of original material blurs musical boundaries, embracing elements of gospel, rock, country and western, folk, blue grass and adult contemporary. She is a fearless chronicler of the human experience without the folksong angst.

Meanwhile, the strapping Lt. Joe Cable denies himself the fulfillment of a future with an innocent Tonkinese girl with whom he's fallen in love out of the same fears that haunt Nellie. Company Jump revives the music of the original girl group, the Andrews Sisters. This thoroughly engaging show is complete with seamless vocals, a live band and bold physical choreography. In classic 1940’s fashion, this professional trio combines Andrews sisters onstage antics with song, dance and swing dance. These gals are ALL stage presence- exuberant, exciting and a whole lot of sassy. The Andrews Sisters kept allied forces entertained throughout WWII. Even today, the music and its upbeat, hopeful air serves not only as a nostalgic reminder of so-called simpler times, but serves also as a poignant hallmark where world events find us again pining for more peaceful days.
