Travel company reminds you to mind your manners

With the colder temperatures this winter, people in Saskatchewan have been racking up their travel miles.

Mexico, the Bahamas and Cuba have all been popular destinations.

A survey done by a Canadian travel company looked at peoples' manners when flying.

“Jetiquette is a term that we coined and it is really about in flight manners. When you are in a small enclosed area with people, for an extended period of time, tempers can get a bit frayed,” said Brian Simpson with Travelocity.

Travelocity customers were polled on a number of issues, from if it is okay to speak to the person sitting beside you, to if it is okay to take your shoes off.

“We found that 66 per cent of people who responded were happy to chat with the person sitting next to them,” said Simpson.

When asked it is okay to remove your shoes when flying, Simpson said 50 per cent of respondents said it was fine, as long as the passenger's feet didn't stink.

Instead of waking up their neighbour, 64 per cent of respondents to the survey said they would climb over a sleeping passenger without disturbing them if there is an urgent need to use the bathroom.

“We Canadians are polite, we're helpful, and we line up. I travel to other places in the world and I come back to Canada to see people lining up for this, lining up for that.”

Simpson said if you are still considering travelling, there are still lots of great deals out there.
