Snow causes poor highway conditions

Mar 17, 2011 | 6:29 AM

It could be an ugly drive on the highways this morning.

The highway hotline is reporting some slippery conditions in the Prince Albert and Melfort areas. Visibility could be reduced also, as a result of swirling snow.

Further south you go, the worse it gets.

CKBIs Drew Wilson is travelling home from Calgary with the Prince Albert Raiders. They got stuck on Highway 7 near Harris.

“We happened upon a double semi tractor-trailer that’s jack-knifed and blocking the entire highway so we could be stuck here for a while and anyone who wants to travel this way may want to find an alternate route,” he said.

Since then the traffic has begun to move again.

Just before noon, one driver said Highway 2, between Wakaw and Hoey, is snow covered and slippery. He said while driving at 60 kilometres an hour he was sliding and almost hit the ditch.
