Rescue stopped in Saskatoon after body enters South Saskatchewan River
Fire crews stopped searching an area of the South Saskatchewan River Tuesday night after a woman jumped off the University Bridge.
The victim is believed to be a 50-year-old female. Police say she was seen crawling over the bridge's railing just before 7 p.m.
“That where the individual was reported entering the water, and it would have been downstream from there, down towards the weir,” said the Saskatoon Fire Department's acting Chief Dan Paulsen.
“Our crews were in the water within six minutes but were not at this point in time able to retrieve the individual, due to darkness etc,” he added.
