Bonnenfant makes it to the Master’s final

Art Assman defeated Prince Albert's Darrell Bonenfant 6-1 Sunday in the final of the Provincial Men's Masters Championship in Gravelbourg.  Assman advanced by winning the first page playoff game over Eugene Hritzuk, 6-4 dropping Hritzuk to the semi-final which he lost to Bonenfant 8-5 Saturday. 

The Prince Albert Golf and Curling Club skip downed Jim Johnston in the second page playoff 7-4 earlier Saturday to advance to the semi-final.  Assman won the “A” Pool with a 5-0 record while Hritzuk won the “B” pool with a 4-1 record.  Bonenfant was second in the “A” pool with a 3-2 record while Johnston was second in the “B” pool with a 4-1 record. 

 

In the Ladies event, Anita Ford rebounded with wins in the semi-final and final to capture the Provincial Women's Master title in Wadena Sunday beating Merle Kopach 8-7 in the Championship Final. 

Kopach advanced to the final by beating Ford, 5-3 in the first page playoff dropping Ford into the semi-final Sunday morning against Lakeland's Jacqueline Swiderski.  Ford downed Swiderski, 7-6 to move into the final. Swiderski won the second page playoff over Liane McLean 7-6 to move into the semi-final.  Two tie-breakers were required Saturday to complete the playoff picture.
