The Prince Albert Parkland Health Region is going ahead with tender for their family treatment centre.

At the health region’s board meeting on Wednesday, the board gave the next step of the project the nod to go ahead.

“We’re very excited about the board’s approval for our project for the family treatment program,” said Cecile Hunt, health region CEO.

She said the project will be tendered on or around Apr. 9.

“This project is really aimed at providing support and service to families, young and old, who are struggling with addiction.

“This project is aimed at trying to, wherever possible, keep especially young families together as they deal with their addictions and helping them feel the support of the community and their families through this journey,” she said.

The treatment centre will hold up to eight adults and their families.

Hunt said it is directed towards young families where one of the biggest issues to getting help is child care.
