The man accused of committing a robbery with a firearm in the 900 block of Cook Drive on Feb. 17 has been denied bail.

Twenty-year-old Pouriya Asari allegedly met with some people to buy marijuana from them. After getting into their vehicle, he pulled out a handgun.

In court, the Crown prosecutor said that Asari told the people to give him the drugs and their money or he’d blow their brains out.

Asari allegedly stole $600 and two-and-a-half pounds of marijuana, as well as the keys to their vehicle and an individual’s cell phone.

However, the Crown stated one of the other passengers had a cell phone and called the police, giving them Asari’s license plate number.

The police arrested Asari at the Shell Station on Second Avenue West.

Police seized the marijuana, a small revolver handgun and a large machete.

Asari has multiple charges, including Possession of a Controlled Substance (Marijuana) for The Purpose of Trafficking and Use of a Firearm While Committing Robbery.

Asari is also charged with driving into oncoming traffic on a highway at about 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 17.
The Crown said a witness saw Asari then get out of the white truck he was driving with a long rifled shotgun.

Asari is scheduled to appear in court again on Mar. 22.
