It was a weekend to be in Love.
This weekend was the 40th annual Special Valentine Winter Festival in Love, Sask. It was filled with people who were in love in Love.
Frank and Cindy Chaboyer made the short drive from Nipawin.
Cindy is originally from Love and the couple has been married for 15 years.
“It’s rare, it’s fun and it’s exciting,” said Frank about being able to be in love in Love on Valentine’s Day.
“It’s actually something we kind of look forward to every year, I try and book holidays around it every year.”
“Love is a great place to be on Valentine’s Day,” he said.
Cindy said they plan to keep the festival a yearly event.
Ryan Clarke and Krystyna Olchowecki have been together for two-and-a-half years.
The couple, from Lloydminster, walked down Main Street holding hands. Clarke’s dad is originally from Love.
“I told her that we are going to be in Love on Valentine’s Day, it’s kind of romantic I guess,” said Clarke.
It is the second time the couple has spent their Valentine’s Day weekend in Love.
Brandy and Robin Arcand had no problem showing their feelings for each other.
The couple, from White Fox, has been married for two years.
Brandy said “it’s awesome” being in love in Love, adding the best part is “being here together.”
They are not the only ones who feel that way.
The Village of Love usually has a population of about 50 – over the weekend it grew to more than 600.
There was more to do than just celebrate Valentine’s Day. The event is the village’s biggest fundraiser and brought in around $23,000. Visitors came from across the country to celebrate.
For those who wanted to be in love, but couldn’t make the trip to Love, Frank has some advice.
“Be persistent, enjoy your partner as much as you can and once and a while show up here and enjoy it even more.”
