The Prince Albert business community learned some valuable lessons from noted speaker and successful businessman Donald Cooper.

He came to the city to bring his own system of personal service in business that has been heard around the world for many years.

“More and more what we sell, regardless of what business we’re in, there’s very little difference between one competitor to another,” said Donald, in an interview before his show.

“So the big difference, the big competitive advantage for any business is do it, to sell what they sell with extraordinary service.”

Cooper is known for heading up the hockey equipment giant during their heyday, and then following up that success as a retailer near Toronto.

His talk is part of trying to get Prince Albert to be recognized as the first Service Best certified city in all of North America.

Sharon Hopkins, who is involved with that effort, said Prince Albert needs to work to having exceptional service because the type of businesses it has.

“Because Prince Albert is such a tourism area, we have a lot of newcomers to the area and we want to give them our best service to make sure they’re coming back to Prince Albert,” she said.
