New director announced for P.A. Catholic School Division

Lorel Trumier, an advocate for Catholic education said she feels privileged and honored to have the opportunity to lead the Prince Albert Roman Catholic Separate School Division.

Trumier has been appointed by the board to replace out-going director Tim Jelinski, who hands over the reins Aug.1.

“We are blessed to have Lorel as our new director of education. In addition to her profound commitment to Catholic education, she has demonstrated outstanding leadership in a variety of educational settings. With her many gifts, Lorel will continue to enrich our school division,” said board chair, George Bolduc in a news release.

Furthering Catholic education through student learning and achievement is a top priority, said Trumier.

“I’ve been a strong advocate for Catholic education my entire life. It’s something that I feel very strongly about,” she said.

“I’ve had both a professional and personal conviction to catholic education.”  

Trumier brings two decades of experience as an educator to the position. Her teaching career began in Edmonton in 1991. She went on to serve as a principle in Edmonton after completing her masters in educational administration and leadership from the University of Alberta in 1999.

She relocated to Prince Albert in 2007 and is currently the superintendent of education.  She is now in the process of completing a master’s certificate in human resource administration from the University of Regina.

Trumier said she brings more to the position than just an impressive resume.

“I believe that I bring a new set of eyes to the great work that’s already been done here. I look forward to really supporting the great initiatives that have occurred in P.A. Catholic and moving those forward.”

Tim Jelinski is retiring after serving 11 years as the director of education and 28 years as an educator with the school division.
