Feb 5, 2011 | 6:23 AM

Frank Moore, known as 'the bedrock of the community,' accepted his Citizen of the Year award last night in the company of friends, family, colleagues and Prince Albert movers and shakers.

The award was a recognition for his years of service to the community as an architect, parishioner and philanthropist, especially for his work with the Prince Albert Habitat for Humanity.

Starting from his career he was recognized for his widespread work as a private architect consultant. His portfolio included dozens of well-known buildings in Prince Albert including the SIAST Woodland Campus, the Marquis Towers (now 33 River Street), The Marlboro Inn (now Quality Inn), the Travelodge, John Diefenbaker School, Turgeon School, Arthur Peechy School, and many more.

When it came to his life in the church, he was recognized for his work through the years, starting with being part of the youth choir, continuing in helping with various organizations through the church until the present day.

When it came to Habitat for Humanity, he was recognized for being instrumental since its inception in the 1990's and continuing until today to being the only founding member still a part of the organization.

For Moore is was an emotional night.

“It's a most wonderful feeling to see that we are able to do things to help those that are less fortunate,”
said Moore. “I started off in the lower end of Prince Albert and made a good living, and we were eventually able to give back.”

Moore said he wasn't set to rest on his laurels however. He said he would continue his work, both in his business and with the housing organization for as long as he was able.

“You always wants to be a good example,” he said.
