RCMP Heritage Centre receives federal funding

Feb 2, 2011 | 3:37 PM

The RCMP Heritage Centre in Regina has a more secure financial future.

Regina MP Tom Lukiwski said the federal government is providing money to ensure the attraction stays open after running into some financial issues.

“We will be contributing $2.1 million over the next two years which will allow the centre to retire its existing debt of roughly $600,000,” said Lukiwski.

An additional $750,000 a year will also be provided to help with ongoing operational costs.

A condition of the money is to prepare a more realistic business plan than the one planned when the facility was first proposed several years ago.

The City of Regina is also making a contribution.
