Health Sciences Union seeking mandate to possibly walk off the job

The Health Sciences union is seeking a mandate from its members to possibly walk off the job in a contract battle that has been going on close to two years now.
Three thousand members will receive ballots in the mail over the next few days over what the union claims is a slap in the face offer of five point five per cent over four years.
President Cathy Dickson says the workers are behind them on this.
“Within an hour of us letting the membership know of what the proposal was from SAHO [the employer group] we had over 100 emails, spontaneously,” said Dickson.
The results will be known in two weeks with both sides meeting around the same time.
At this point the strike mandate, if voted for, will be used for now at least as a tool during negotiations.
