Wakaw rally not last effort
As Wakaw faces the very real possibility of its local hospital shutting down, some 300 of its citizens turned out for a rally Saturday afternoon.
Wakaw is losing its last doctor, and even though a temporary doctor has agreed to work there until the end of March, the people in the area want action from the Saskatoon Health Region and the Province's Health Ministry. They also want to be kept informed.
Rally organizer Faye Michayluk says if the hospital shuts down it will be very hard to get it re-opened once all the health workers leave town for other jobs.
That won't only affect people's health she says, but also the health of the local economy.
