RCMP investigating missing dogs

Jan 21, 2011 | 5:48 AM

In the Prince Albert area, people’s dogs have been disappearing.

RCMP are investigating one report that a woman's dog was stolen.

Sgt. John Mansbridge with the Prince Albert detachment said the woman, who lives on a farm near

Birch Hills, had two golden retrievers go missing last November. Only one has been found.

Mansbridge says the woman was contacted.

“We have heard from her that someone had contacted her with a request for a reimbursement of some expenses incurred while obtaining her female dog from a third party. We haven't been able to confirm that. We haven't been able to track down the intermediaries,” he said.

A suspicious van was seen in the area prior to the dogs going missing, said Mansbridge.

“There is some indication that a suspicious van had driven in the yard prior to the dogs going missing. We don’t know if the van is involved or not. We have located the owner of the van and that owner was spoken to. Nothing further was gained from speakng to the owner.”
