Elks District 2 and Royal Purple District 4 Dialysis Project Given a Boost.

 Dialysis Bingo:  The “ELKS & ROYAL PURPLE DIALYSIS COMMITTEE”  had the opportunity to have a Mega Bingo at Carnival on December 26, 2010 (Boxing Day) with the major prize board worth $30,000.  We were able to organize a major task force in a very short time. Thanks to a great show of support from all the Elks and Royal Purple members from all respective districts. Also a big thankyou to the Carnival Bingo owners and staff for providing the opportunity to take on this mega bingo. It will be of a great help to this project. 
Since 1986 these 2 districts which include the communities of Big River, Canwood, LaRonge, Paddockwood, Prince Albert,, Shellbrook and Weldon have been fund raising and supporting the capital costs of the Dialysis unit of the Victoria Union Hospital in Prince Albert.  They have raised in excess of $500,000. The assistance of the Elks and Royal Purple has provided for the initial establishment of the unit and a resent expansion.of the unit has increased the available slots for treatment to one hundred and forty four per week.  The impact of increasing the number of slots available has reduced the patients of Northern Saskatchewan that would travel to Saskatoon for treatment.  The Elks and Royal Purple should be very proud of this project and for what it has accomplished.
