Candle Lake B&E suspect still at large

Jan 10, 2011 | 11:14 AM

A warrant of arrest is out for a 21-year-old man who is still at large after a wave of break and enters in the Candle Lake area, near Christmas time.

“We have him charged, right now with 18 counts of break and enter and two for theft of vehicles and there’s still the possibility of more charges pending,” said Cpl. Kirk Badger with the Smeaton Detachment of the RCMP.

Right now they are also looking into the possibility of a female accomplice who was with the 21 year old at the time of the break-ins, said Badger.

Badger said he urges the community to keep an eye out for anything out of the ordinary.

“Vehicles traveling by late at night or (when) there’s lots of cabins that are unattended in the winter, if you see something that just seems out of place. Someone that isn’t usually around there that is.”

The RCMP recovered several thousand dollars worth of stolen property, but Badger said it hard to know how much more was stolen.

The Candle Lake Area is a resort area so Badger says many people don't even realize things are missing until they return in the summer.

People with any information are urged to call the Smeaton RCMP at 426-2630 or Crime Stoppers.
