SGI, privacy commissioner at ‘impasse’ over customer privacy

SGI and Saskatchewan's privacy commissioner have reached what Gary Dickson is calling an impasse following complaints made by the crown's customers.

The breach of privacy complaints came in from people who were injured in car accidents in the last decade.

But when he began investigating, Dickson was told by SGI that it didn't think the complaints were under his jurisdiction.

“(SGI) felt we can only look at the general privacy policies but we have no business investigating what the experience was of a particular complainant,” Dickson said.
