Victim remembered in memorial service

The River Park Funeral Chapel was full of mourners for Jean Ballantyne, who was killed on Christmas Day.

Dozens of family members, friends and neighbours turned out to remember the 63-year-old grandmother.

Ballantyne was remembered for her caring and nurturing nature and for all the lives she had touched.

As well, her faith in God was highlighted. Those in attendance gave thanks for the fact that she had received holy communion the night before she died.

Finally, the priest who gave the service said Ballantyne’s death should be a call to action for the community to stand up against alcohol and drug abuse and work towards a better future for all.
