Holiday crime fairly quiet

Prince Albert police did not have too much trouble over the Christmas weekend.

They received 167 calls and made 23 arrests, seven of which are for public intoxication.

Staff Sgt. Bill Chow said Christmas Eve is unpredictable.
“Sometimes we can be really quiet on Christmas Eve, or other times we can be really busy and this was kind of in between both of those,” he said.

The police said they had 37 calls of service on Christmas Eve and 56 on Christmas. Boxing day was their busiest of the weekend, with 74 calls.

Overall, nothing is normal in this business, but at the end of the day it was a normal weekend from responding to calls,” he said.

The RCMP said they had a fairly quiet weekend in the Prince Albert area.
