Five sentenced in St. Louis home invasion

Dec 21, 2010 | 2:55 PM

Five of the seven people who broke into a St. Louis home and left an elderly woman beaten have been sentenced.

The incident occurred back in July of this year. Helen Doderai, 71, had her home broken into, she was beaten up by the intruders and tied to her mattress with electrical cord. They stole less than $5,000 and tore out her phone cord so she couldn’t call for help.

Lennox Dickson was sentenced to seven years less time served in prison for his role in the invasion.

He has to submit a DNA sample and is not allowed to be in possession of a weapon. Dickson has 49 prior convictions. He has six years and 207 days left to serve in his sentence.

Todd Southerland was given five years in prison. He received a lesser sentence because he had only one prior conviction. He was also told to submit a DNA sample and is not allowed to be in possession of a weapon. He will serve this sentence concurrent to the one he is currently serving.

Southerland was also given a two-year driving suspension after driving a stolen vehicle and causing an accident.

Cody Daniels was sentenced to seven years less time served in prison, plus an additional year for possession of stolen property. In total, he will spend seven years and 216 days behind bars. Daniels said he did not participate in the beating of the woman, and told the others to stop. Along with the sentence, he also has to submit a DNA sample and is not allowed to be in possession of a weapon. He has 70 previous convictions.

Alissa Gamble and Adam Cardinal will be sentenced Jan. 17.

The two male youth involved in the incident, 14 and 17, received nine months open custody, four and a half months community supervision and one year of probation.
